One of my favorite times to run is on national holidays. It is a great way to kick off the day and it’s so rare to find a race that happens on a weekday. For the fourth of July, there really aren’t really a ton of race options in the area, but there is one race that happens every year and it’s right down the road in Carrboro. It’s called Four on the Fourth and it’s part of the Le Tour de Carrboro a three race series including the Four on the Fourth, Carrboro 10k, and Gallop and Gorge. This year they brought the Brooks finisher’s jacket back, so I signed up for the whole tour. On race day I ran most of the race with Maria and Alexandra, I ended up pushing ahead for the last bit finishing in 43:17. Connor ran in his age group’s little firecracker run and Logan ran in his, but Logan waited until after almost everyone made it about halfway before he ran at a full tilt.
