With back school, end of summer, and the extreme heat of August, week night runs were few and far between, but there were still a number of events on the calendar. At the beginning of the month, Bull City Running Company hosted a screening of Starting at the Finish Line: The Coach Buehler Story, it was fascinating to hear the story behind the man whose name graces the trail around the Washington Duke Inn that we have been on countless times.
For the “Year of the Fun Run” in August, Susie and I met at the Buehler trail to do hill repeats in honor of the Summer Olympic Games.
The Reading RunBuds had a million and one conflicts and it ended up that only Julia and I showed up at Foster’s to discuss The Light Between Oceans. Nevertheless we had an engaging conversation about the book.
Finally, towards the end of the month, a group of the RunBuds went out to the Volunteer Event for Shamieka Rhinehart’s campaign for District Court Judge. At the event, we had the opportunity to sign up for committees to help with the campaign.
